## Local Development Setup

### Prerequisites

1. Install PHP 8.2:

```bash
brew install php@8.2
```

2. Install Redis server:

```bash
brew install redis
brew services start redis
```

3. Install PHP Redis Extension:

```bash
pecl install redis
```

4. Switch PHP version in Valet:

```bash
valet use php@8.2
valet restart
```

5. Verify Redis installation:

```bash
# Check Redis server
brew services list | grep redis

# Check PHP Redis extension
php -m | grep redis
```

### Initial Setup

1. Clone the repository:

```bash
git clone [repository-url]
cd [project-directory]
```

2. Copy environment file:

```bash
cp .env.example .env
```

3. Install Composer dependencies:

```bash
composer install
```

4. Install Node dependencies:

```bash
npm install
```

5. Generate application key:

```bash
php artisan key:generate
```

6. Install Laravel Horizon:

```bash
composer require laravel/horizon
php artisan horizon:install
```

7. Configure your `.env` file:

### Development Environment

#### Starting All Services

You'll need multiple terminal windows/tabs:

npm run dev

# Terminal 4: Laravel Horizon

#### Using Valet (Recommended)

1. Install Laravel Valet:

composer global require laravel/valet
valet install
```

2. Link your project:

```bash
cd [project-directory]
valet link
valet secure
```

Your site will be available at `https://[folder-name].test`

### Troubleshooting

#### Redis Issues

1. Check Redis server status:

```bash
brew services list
brew services restart redis
```

2. Verify Redis connection:

```bash
redis-cli ping
```

3. Check PHP Redis extension:

```bash
php -m | grep redis
```

#### PHP Version Issues

1. Switch PHP versions:

```bash
valet use php@8.2

#### Horizon Issues

1. Clear config cache:

php artisan config:clear
